Next Phase Roofing & Construction is a commercial roofing company that services the entire state of Oklahoma. Next Phase specializes in roofing projects for schools, churches, and commercial properties, with a specific emphasis on emergency and storm damage repair services.
Next Phase has seen tremendous success utilizing direct, boots-on-the-ground marketing efforts to enhance brand awareness, with a strong focus on personal engagement and high-quality print materials. After previously contracting with Mary-Ann Zykin to produce their first round of brochures, it was time to refresh their collateral to reflect a more refined content strategy and mature design system.
Objective
Refine Next Phase's brand image, emphasize their expertise in the roofing sector, and showcase their service offerings and value propositions through a series of high quality brochures.

Challenges
The previous design approach, characterized by dark, edgy language and vibrant graphics, effectively engaged audiences but conveyed the impression of a younger, less established company.
The challenge was to transition from a bold, content-heavy aesthetic to one that aligns with the company's goal of being perceived as a respected leader in the Oklahoma roofing and construction industry.
The redesign process involved a strategic shift from the previous graphic-heavy style to a cleaner, more mature, and professional look. The new design emphasizes strong typography-specifically the Overpass font with its sharp angles and strong presence-and a refined color palette that incorporates more white space, complemented by the company’s brand colors of gold and black.
One of the most important parts of the new design was the integration of high-quality drone photography by John Carpenter, which played a central role in the visual content of the brochures. This imagery, including both finished projects and in-progress shots, emphasizes Next Phase’s commitment to quality, craftsmanship, innovation, and industry best practices.
“We've been trying to refine how we talk about the company and their value propositions, and walk the line between showcasing their service offerings and what sets them apart without giving away all of their secrets to other contractors, because it is such a highly competitive field. We're always cognizant of that when we take on client work.”
We created a series of 4 brochures in total, each one tailored to different segments of Next Phase’s target audience, including commercial clients, schools, churches, and insurance agents. Each brochure was designed to be a high-quality, slightly oversized print piece that clients can feel in their hand and keep, reinforcing Next Phase’s position as a quality partner.
Coordination with a local print shop allowed for the review of proofs prior to full-scale production, ensuring that high-quality paper stocks were selected, all designs were adequately within the safe area, and the printing process itself was handled with high craftsmanship.
The collaboration with Next Phase Roofing & Construction was highly interactive—Next Phase's creative input was highly valuable, and ensured that the final content was accurate and aligned with their vision for how they wish to be perceived. Given the permanent nature of print marketing, it was essential that every aspect of the design and content was precise.
The themes explored during the brochure design process will directly inform the next effort—the company’s website redesign in 2025. The expanded digital format will allow for a more comprehensive showcase of Next Phase’s projects and service offerings, without the physical constraints of print materials. The website will offer a huge opportunity to further explore and implement the new visuals and design system, and we are so excited to help Next Phase bring their vision to fruition!
