A-C Electric Company, a commercial electrical contractor with over 80 years in business, needed a new website that reflected both its deep history and forward-looking vision. Their previous site was outdated, unresponsive, and difficult to maintain, failing to showcase their people, culture, and expertise.
A-C Electric Company hired Zykin Design to capture imagery, build a new website, and tell their story in a concise, visually appealing way. The new website is more than a digital makeover—it’s a foundation for growth and a true representation of who they are today and where they're headed tomorrow.

Objective
Design a modern, responsive website that showcases A-C Electric’s people, culture, and 80-year legacy. Consolidate multiple web properties into a single, streamlined platform, and integrate a fully functional careers section to strengthen recruiting and provide a seamless experience for prospective employees.
Visual storytelling was an essential part of this project, so the process began with an on-site visit to A-C Electric’s locations in central California. The photography focused on A-C Electric’s people—the core of their culture. From job sites to offices, we highlighted team members in action while intentionally balancing brand identity with authenticity.
Safety culture was a recurring theme that was captured—visible in everything from PPE to branded gear and hard hat stickers—promoting safety at every level of the organization. In the office, branding extended across carefully considered touchpoints, further reinforcing a culture of professionalism and pride that is reflected in the photo and video assets we collected.
Drone footage allowed us to capture A-C Electric’s large-scale commercial projects from a dynamic perspective. From schools under construction to infrastructure development, these assets conveyed the scale and impact of the company’s work while complementing the people-first photography.
For the web design, we worked within A-C Electric’s existing brand guidelines but shifted the color emphasis—elevating navy as the primary color, with red and their signature baby blue as secondary accents. This transition balanced tradition with a modern look while avoiding an overly harsh palette.
Typography also played a role in creating a unique visual identity. We selected Open Sans Condensed for headings, giving the site a classic yet slightly vintage character that reflects the company’s long history. This was paired with Open Sans for body copy to ensure clarity and readability across devices.
The design incorporated brand logos thoughtfully, using the circular A-C emblem as a subtle stamp or watermark throughout the site to add depth and authenticity without overwhelming the design.
The new site was built on WordPress, providing flexibility and scalability for the future. A major improvement was the consolidation of content. Previously, A-C Electric managed multiple websites, including a separate careers site. We streamlined everything into a single, unified platform—making it easier for administrators to update and for job seekers to navigate.
The careers section became a major highlight of the development. It now showcases open positions directly on the site, allows for online applications, and reinforces the company’s strong culture to prospective employees—all in one seamless experience.



The new A-C Electric website not only modernized the company’s digital presence but also created a platform that reflects its culture, legacy, and vision for the future. By focusing on people-first storytelling, streamlined navigation, and strong branding, the site now serves as a recruiting tool, a marketing asset, and a digital extension of the company’s 80+ year legacy.
