We believe that visual communication is vital to how we navigate the world and interact with others, and there’s true power in design. Design has the power to shape how we perceive a brand, how we experience something, how we find our way in the world, how we feel, and how we behave.

How We Work
Our approach is rooted in providing the highest quality service with hands-on support. We pride ourselves in being ultra-responsive and communicative with our clients. We take an educational approach, always providing the information our clients need in order to be confident in their decisions—and ours. That means clients regularly come to us with all sorts of questions and requests for guidance after a job is done. Customer service is in our blood, and we’re always happy to help.
We have regular (often weekly) check-ins with our active clients to ensure that clients are always in the loop about project status and the decision-making process, ensuring they are informed every step of the way. The last thing we want is for a client to be surprised at the end with a result that doesn’t meet their vision. We always strive to inspire confidence, ease, and peace in our clients, and try our best to make working with us as stress-free as possible.
We take deliberate steps to always improve and refine how we think, write, design, and build. We’re inspired by our clients and driven by curiosity—about how things are built or get made, the infrastructure that powers our world, the products that we use and their impact on our lives, and how intentional experiences shape our perception. The learning process never stops, and by continuing to research, learn, experiment, and create, we are always striving to better our craft and our work. We don’t believe in outsourcing our thinking or creative skills to generative AI and LLMs, preferring to activate our brains and do the work ourselves.

Mary-Ann Zykin
Founder & Designer
Mary-Ann is the founder, designer, and developer at Zykin Design, bringing strategic design thinking to every client project. After receiving a BFA in Visual Communication Design from the University of Hartford, she honed her skills as in-house editorial & print designer for Community Impact Newspaper and web designer at HCSS before launching her independent design practice in 2017. Mary-Ann founded Zykin Design in 2024 to provide comprehensive design and creative solutions to businesses across the US. When she’s not at the computer, you can find her behind the camera, in the garden, buried in a book, or cooking a delicious, scratch-made meal.
McKell Michaelson
Project & Production Coordinator
McKell brings strategic coordination and meticulous attention to detail to her role at Zykin Design, managing projects, crafting content, and ensuring seamless client experiences. She holds a BA in Psychology from Texas State University and spent years as an educator and team lead, where she developed her talent for managing complex moving parts while keeping everyone aligned. Her organizational prowess keeps Zykin Design running smoothly, so every client receives the thorough, thoughtful service they deserve. When she's not perfecting the details, she's enjoying time with her husband, two dogs, and a mischievous cat named Loki.
